The Quest For Glassy Water

Pretty much sums up my weekend in St. George. If there are any other avid wake boarders out there then you would understand that glassy water can be the difference from a great day on the lake to a so-so day and even a really crappy day. Wind is the enemy of all wake boarders. I guess however it can’t really be that crappy of a day if you are out on the lake.

Really the reason for the trip to St. George, Utah was to spend time with family who were visiting from all over this great nation. It certainly does not hurt that my father in law has a boat and loves to take us out on the lake. It was still a little early for the best wakeboarding- the weather wasn’t extremely hot and the water was still a little frigid. None of us seemed to mind, we were just excited to get out there and tear up that beautiful water!

There are ups and downs to having a full boat in terms of people. More people to enjoy the scenery with and more people equates to a better wake the boat puts out, however it also means the longer the rotation (meaning the longer you wait until it’s your turn). And chances are you will miss out on the best water to someone who won’t even go outside the wake. This being said it was a great trip. I forget how beautiful the red mountain scenery is around Quail Creek Reservoir. I couldn’t think of anyone better to enjoy the water and the beauty that is southern Utah than a great family who enjoys great times and great laughs.
