ice cream at Cal State Fullerton

This past weekend I went and visited one of my best friends from high school (well she is still one of my bestest friends). It was supposed to be a quick day trip on Saturday but I ended up spending the night. Which thinking back I am really glad I did. 

Sitting on the plane in the morning, the flight was half empty and there was only one other person sitting in first class, so it was a great time to think and catch up on some episodes of flight of the concords.  Arriving at the Orange County Airport at 9:30 am I was greeted by my cute friend Jill. After excited hugs and hi’s we sped off talking a mile a minute trying to catch up. A quick Starbuck’s run and we found ourselves walking around Cal State Fullerton’s campus. Jill is an art major there and she showed me where she goes to school and where her classes are. I love walking around different college campuses. They all have a different atmosphere and I find them all to be unique.

We met up with her friend Will and decided to head over to Long Beach to grab some lunch and then walk around downtown; after a stop at the art supply store so jill could get some supplies for her classes (three hours later). We decided to eat at Taco Surf. It was a place Will had been before and swore it was the best place on Earth (except we found out later that he had only eaten there once before). It was really good actually. I got a fish taco and a carne asada taco while the other two got burritos. We were so full by the end of lunch that we decided to walk it off a bit before getting gelato at Powells.

After the walk, I realized it was starting to get late and I was planning on flying out of the Long Beach Airport. I believe it was at that point that we all realized none of us knew how to get to the Long Beach Airport. Luckily, I had my trusty iPhone. Don’t worry- my GPS on my iphone brought us to the airport- just the opposite side of where the terminals were (you know where you actually need to be). In fact we could see the terminals from where we were, we just had no idea how to get there. By the time we arrived- the flight was scheduled to leave in 20 minutes and there was no possible way for me to check in. The gate agents were at the aircraft and the kiosk was telling me I had passed the time it would allow me to check in. Well, regardless I ended up back with Jill and Will in less than ten minutes after they had dropped me off. 

I’m glad I got to stay. I didn’t come to Southern California to see the sights, or go to the beach. Although that helped- I came to see my friend. The rest of the night we hung out and enjoyed each other’s company. Nothing all too exciting except for a late night run to In-N-Out- we all know how exciting that can be. Either way it was worth the trip and I look forward to doing it again!
